Project 1 Task 1

The Key Roles In Theatre Production And Live Events And What Some Of Them Do

Some of the roles I found are; Director, stage manager, light technicians, sound technicians, sound designer, light designer, performer, set designer, hair/makeup designer and many many more

A Stage Manager supports and organises all the different teams involved in the day-to-day running of a theatre production from rehearsals right through to performances

A Lighting Designer will work with the Director, Artistic Director and/or Lighting Technicians to create the visuals for lighting, lasers, strobes, spots and sometimes video screens for a performance.

The Role Of The Audience

The audience is the consumer of the performance/product. Theatre productions are an example of supply and demand as the show will keep going until there is no longer an audience demand. The audience also encourages the performers and also pays for their tickets which then pays the performers wages. – This website was very helpful in understanding the roll of the audience.

Project 1 Task 2

The Plan

Make 3 designs for the fashion show and find what one works best and develop it further if needed till we reach the desired end product

Evaluation of Draft 1

Three strengths of draft 1 were;

1) It fulfilled the brief  2) Intuitive ideas  3) Backstage was hidden

Three weaknesses of Draft 1 were;

1) The audience was quite intimate and cramped  2) looked a bit scruffy   3) Rushed for time

Evaluation of Draft 2

Three positives of draft 2 were;

1) it felt more spacious than draft 1 yet still intimate  2) it was a lot brighter and inviting  3) the duel projection

Three negatives of draft 2 were;

1) It could have been tidier   2) The seating could have been organised a better  3) There could have been a few more lights so that everything was lit properly

Evaluation of Draft 3

Three strengths of draft 3 were;

1) It was a completely different layout to the others   2) Duel projection with chroma key (image)  3) Enough lighting so that all the stage was covered

Three weaknesses of draft 3 were;

1) Time management could have been improved   2) Sightlines could have been cleaned up   3) Lighting could have been a bit more exciting

Project 1 Task 3

Fashion Show Evaluation

On Tuesday we started the setup for the fashion show using Draft 3 from 6th October and adding a couple of changes to help with the overall flow.

Wednesday was the actual fashion show and it went okay however timings could have been better and the lighting could have been more on the models faces rather than the catwalk and better communication can help fix this

My role was AV and I did the job to the best of my ability however I made a couple of errors such as pressing the wrong buttons on the Roland vision mixer meaning the wrong feed was being projected. one way I would fix this is by practising a bit more.

The head of AV Alfie did a god job at showing me how to use the equipment and what to do at what point in the fashion show.
